Peace Signs

Peace symbols have been used in different cultures and contexts. The peace sign was popularized by Pablo Picaso in 1949 and was used in the post-war peace movement. In the 20th century the peace sign became an international peace symbol.

Originally the peace sign was upside down, to represent the tree of life. The plain circle symbolizes earth, and the lines inside of it symbolize peace and life. The sign is understood to mean peace, love and unity.

Peace signs are very common now a days. You will see them every where. They are on clothes, blankets, lava lamps, shoes, flags, posters. Anything you can think of, there is most likely a peace sign version.
